Dear
Friends:
We learned how to use a computer largely to publish our newsletters and other information
provided to our guests at the store. Prior to opening the business our collective
experience was limited and specific to our previous work-life. But we knew that the
community desired an info-rich experience - there were plenty of stores that peddled bird
seed and bird feeders. Few offered quality products, and even fewer had knowledge to share
when consumers had questions.
We set out to provide something different and a newsletter would be a key
instrument to disseminate information as well as help us market the business. Through the
process we have learned a great deal about nature and even more about technology:
software, scanners, printers, photography and much more.
The demand for knowledge has been so great that we have created two
newsletters. The four-page Notebook is published twice annually and mailed to
customers upon request; our two-page Calendar is revised every few weeks and is
distributed primarily in the store. However, both publications are available online,
linked at our "information page"
which makes it handy if you care to share a story with friends and relatives. Some
articles from past editions which have broad appeal and a long shelf-life are archived on this web site.
The latest edition of J.J. Cardinal's Notebook is being printed in color,
which we're really excited about and hope you enjoy it. Let us know what you think, not
just about the jazzy appearance, but it's content as well. Any topic you'd like to see in
future editions? Do tell.
