in this case there's no such thing as "too many cooks" stirring the pot

filling the can with bits of string and twigs...

mmm-mm, good for birds.Providing bits of string and twigs is a big help to nesting building birds. At our activity called Birds Nesting Soup kids learned about Michigan’s nesting birds, saw actual bird nests, and made a “Birdie Helper” or "soup".  A soup-size aluminum can is filled with a variety of materials birds may use in nest construction and hung from a tree - over time, birds pull bits from the can as they construct nests nearby. Above left, participants "stir the pot" filled with essential ingredients. [March 2005]
