goldfinch treat - a thistle sock! wild turkey reports coming in from all parts of Michigan indigo bunting
"One day I noticed my neighbor had a long nylon sock hanging on a shepherd hook in her front yard. After seeing all the little finches on it, I decide that I needed to buy one...and found that it came in two sizes. Buying the small sock and filling it with thistle seed, it was not long before the little finches showed up. We have enjoyed it ever since, seeing seven or more on the feeder at one time," Mike C. of Grand Blanc. Kind of you to share! Many thanks to Peggy C. of Grand Blanc who sent us this shot of two of the six wild turkey in her orchard. "They seem to have no fear of me and I got within a few feet of them. As I turned and started to walk away a couple of the bigger ones started to follow me. As my thoughts were divided between fear and Thanksgiving dinner as I stepped up my pace a bit." [Oct. 27, '03]  Carrin of Ortonville shares this neat
glimpse of a brilliant indigo bunting.
