Small business owners wear many "hats" - in our case Louise not only selects and orders virtually all the merchandise, she also takes a lead role in marketing the store. The majority of images seen on this website or in the store were captured by Louise. Products, events & activities. The whole shebang. Louise has a creative eye and by taking the pictures herself there is some added satisfaction in presenting the goods accurately and even learns more about the merchandise by going through the process. new & improved...really06/14/07
Ever wonder how (and why) some businesses dwell so much on price? Sure it's an important element in every business transaction - yet given the focus on "deals" it's apparent they have little else to offer...just cheap goods, substandard service. Ahhh, but one heck of a low price!  Sometimes the goods are salvage, surplus or over-stocked - bought for pennies on the dollar.  At J.J. Cardinal's we pride ourselves for taking the road less traveled - scouring the planet for the newest, greatest and best merchandise available...anywhere. Case in point: Droll Yankees has re-engineered their popular "Little Flyer 2" hummingbird feeder...they've altered the pole-mounting feature and added an ant mote to the basic design. Very nice new features, and typically, J.J. Cardinal's has this new model in-stock...and just as typically the bottom feeders are peddling the old design "at deep deep discount prices". One customer told us "there oughta' be a law!"  Naw, no need to legislate against such foolishness - consumers have a choice. We're just glad folks appreciate our honest, straight-forward approach.

Spring is a glorious season and we're fortunate so many of our friends share images of their discoveries. Lucky too we're enjoying this digital explosion - so that we can easily share with you pictures from Peggy and her rapidly growing mourning doves on her porch (see 5/17 & 5/22 below). We also received a nice collection of notes from a first grade class in Kalamazoo - who not only witnessed the emergence of a polyphemus moth from it's cocoon, but also solved a minor identification mystery » »

This year we've had a ton of questions about Eastern Bluebirds...folks were spotting them through the winter and sighting in our area appear to be strong this spring as well. Questions continue to flow our way about food stuffs, nests boxes and other behavior...enough so that we need to have a seminar "all things bluebird!" Until then here's a link to our featured bluebird feeder section including the model Droll Yankee calls Dorothy's Cardinal Feeder (great for bluebirds, too)  » »

Easy Lift Hanger makes it simple to hang feeders and plants....04/25/07
We use 'em everyday in the store so perhaps we view them as "store fixtures". Yet, we've sold zillions of 'em to delighted customers for years...but for whatever reason we've never promoted 'em on the web. Go figure.
